Constipation

What is Constipation?

Constipation refers to infrequent, difficult, or painful bowel movements. It is a common problem in both children and adults and can be caused by inadequate fiber or water intake, poor bathroom habits, stress, or underlying medical conditions. Symptoms may include abdominal discomfort, hard stools, straining during defecation, and a feeling of incomplete evacuation. Chronic constipation may lead to complications like anal fissures or fecal impaction.

How We Cure It

Management involves lifestyle and dietary changes—encouraging a high-fiber diet, adequate water intake, and regular physical activity. Establishing regular toilet routines can also help. In children, positive reinforcement and scheduled toilet times are effective. Laxatives or stool softeners may be recommended under medical supervision for short-term relief. In cases of chronic constipation, further evaluation may be needed to rule out structural or neurological causes.
